Kings Notes: High school buds, Friday foes

Eddy Curry and Justin Williams caught up in the tunnel inside Arco Arena on Friday, reminiscing about their days together and perhaps issuing a friendly challenge for the game at hand.

Opponents on this night? Perhaps. They were running mates long before then, though.

The Knicks' massive center and the Kings forward grew up together just outside of Chicago in Calumet City, Ill., starting as playmates who lived five minutes from each other and later playing as teammates on the Thornwood High School team. Then for parts of every offseason at the same Chicago facility with Tim Grover, the famed trainer who previously worked with Michel Jordan.

Health Tip: Eating After Weight-Loss Surgery

(HealthDay News) - It's crucial to eat right after you've had bariatric or other types of weight-loss surgery.

The MetroHealth System offers these suggestions:

Because your stomach is smaller, eat small meals regularly throughout the day instead of a few large meals. Eat slowly and chew thoroughly -- it may take about an hour to eat your meals. About 30 minutes after meals, drink fluids in small sips -- do not drink beverages with meals. Avoid eating sweets.

Sen. Judd Gregg: Mandated coverage is keeping many in NH uninsured

Like most states, New Hampshire struggles with the issue of affordable health insurance coverage for its citizens. Roughly 150,000 people across the state lack health insurance. Of this number, a large group, approximately 75,000, are working-age individuals or their families who choose not to buy coverage or who work for employers who cannot afford to pay for their coverage.

In most cases, this is caused by the high cost of premiums for health insurance. This is a serious problem for each and every uninsured family struggling to access basic health care services. And it is being made worse by new and excessive health insurance mandates proposed by the Democratic-run Legislature, which are driving the cost of insurance higher and pushing more people into the ranks of the uninsured.

Young making most of rehab sessions

When Kordell Young had two healthy knees, he could run the length of the football field in 11 seconds.

Who knows how fast he could walk to class?

But in the weeks after Young's surgery to repair a torn ligament in his knee, Rutgers' sophomore tailback apparently aged quite a bit as he treked around campus.

"The most frustrating part was seeing everybody else walking," he said, "and it was taking me 10 years to get to class."

Exaggeration aside, Young summed up the first few weeks of his rehabilitation process like this: "It was hard because I had one strong leg and one leg that's not that strong, so I kept pushing myself to get it (the weaker leg) stronger."

Now, two months since he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Sept.
